Matthew R. Gallagher founded the firm of Gallagher & Niemeyer, LLC in 2000. He concentrates his practice representing real estate developers and individual home buyers and sellers in Chicago, as well as small and medium sized condominium association boards. Matt has represented hundreds of individual home buyers and sellers and dozens of small-to-medium size real estate developers. He also practices estate planning law and represents persons appearing before Chicago's Department of Administrative Hearings. Prior to founding Gallagher & Niemeyer, LLC, he was a partner and trial lawyer at Gallagher & Petrak, Ltd. for eight years, where he represented injured persons and workers injured on the job.
In addition to his work at Gallagher & Niemeyer, LLC, Matt also advises low-income clients through
CARPLS, Cook County's Legal Aid Hotline, a non-profit agency serving the legal needs of Cook County's poorest citizens. He is a supervising attorney at CARPLS in charge of special projects for the agency.
Matt graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1990 with honor, where he received his bachelor's degree in Government & International Studies with a concentration in philosophy, politics and economics. He received his JD cum laude in 1993 from the DePaul University College of Law. While at DePaul, he was on the law review and was elected to membership in the Order of the Coif, an honorary society.
Matt is a member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyer's Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois Bar Association. He is also a licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker. He is a member of the Chicago Association of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Matt is the past President of the board of directors of CASA of Cook County and a member of the associate board of CARPLS.
Matt lives in Chicago with his wife and two children and is an active sailor.
